The Procedure:
Rhinoplasty can be done in an outpatient facility or in a hospital depending on patient’s choice and surgeon’s preference. The procedure is best done under local anesthesia or patients can be sedated if there will be combined procedures.
Nose lift or augmentation rhinoplasty is a procedure of choice to improve nasal bridge height and definition.
Tip plasty is ideal for patients with round, wide and bulbous nasal tip. The procedure narrows down the nasal tip and give more defition.
Alar plasty or alar trimming is a procedure of choice for patients with wide and flaring alar rim and alar base. The procedure narrows down the width of the alar base and improve and contour of the alar rim.
After Surgery:
After the procedure, patients will have swelling and some bruising of the nose. Patients are advised that there will be swelling, tightness, minimal pain or discomfort and numbness. However, these are transient and resolve spontaneously during the next several weeks.
For Better Healing:
To improve healing and minimize swelling, patients are advise to avoid the following for 2 to 3 weeks : smoking, alcoholic beverages, aspirin, NSAID’s like mefenamic acids, vitamin E supplement, steroids, herbal tea or herbal medications.
