Brazilian Butt Lift
Brazilian Butt Lift is another term for buttocks augmentation with fat injection or fat graft. Another method that is used to augment the gluteal area is by fat injection. This is ideally performed for patients who have hesitation in having a foreign material (buttock implant) in their body; or those who have unsightly or unwanted fat deposits at the abdomen, thighs, or arms requiring liposuction. The fat is initially harvested by a gentle liposuction technique and then processed into pure form. The pure fat is then injected into gluteal muscle through a very small port-like incision. For better fat survival, and to minimize fat resorption by the body, the harvested fat is transplanted or injected to the gluteal muscle. This improved fat survival is due to the improved blood supply to the fat cells when injected into the muscle.
The procedure is done under general anesthesia or regional depending on the area involve. This is done in an outpatient or hospital facility. It is best to for patients to be admitted for a day or two so that so that patients may rest immediately after surgery.
After Surgery:
After the procedure, patients will have pressure dressing or garment at the treated area to help control the swelling. Patients are advise that there will be swelling, tightness, minimal pain or discomfort and numbness. However, these conditions are transient and resolve spontaneously during the next several weeks.
For Better Healing:
To improve healing and minimize swelling, patients are advise to avoid the following for 2 to 3 weeks : smoking, alcoholic beverages, aspirin, NSAID’s like mefenamic acids, vitamin E supplement, steroids, herbal tea or herbal medications.
